Step 1: Copy the YouTube video URL
Navigate to the YouTube video you want to convert. Click the Share button below the video or copy the URL directly from your browser's address bar. Both full URLs (youtube.com/watch?v=...) and shortened links (youtu.be/...) work. YouTube Shorts URLs are also supported.
Step 2: Paste and choose your quality
Return to this page and paste the URL into the converter above. Select MP3 as your output format. Choose your preferred audio quality: 128 kbps for compact files, 192 kbps for balanced quality, 256 kbps for high fidelity, or 320 kbps for maximum quality. yt2mp3.lol uses FFmpeg with the LAME encoder for professional-grade MP3 output.
Step 3: Download your MP3 file
Click the Convert button. Processing typically takes 5–15 seconds for a standard music video. Once complete, a download button appears. Click it to save the MP3 directly to your device. On desktop, files go to your Downloads folder. On mobile, check your browser's download manager or Files app.
What happens behind the scenes
When you click Convert, yt2mp3.lol's backend uses yt-dlp to resolve the highest available audio stream from YouTube (typically 128 kbps AAC or up to 160 kbps Opus). FFmpeg then re-encodes this stream into your chosen MP3 bitrate using the libmp3lame codec at constant bitrate (CBR) with joint stereo. The result is a clean, properly tagged MP3 file.
Tips for the best conversion results
For music, always select 320 kbps for maximum fidelity. For podcasts and spoken word, 128 kbps produces excellent results at smaller file sizes. If you need the original audio without any re-encoding loss, choose the WAV or M4A format instead — M4A often remuxes the native AAC stream without re-encoding.
